Erste
Gruppe was the first group formed within Stein Collectors International.
From our creation in 1968, the chapter has been known to include a diverse
group of collectors of beer steins and related items. Our active roster
is about 60 members.
What
really separates this group from many that have a specific item
orientation is the warm comradeship among the members, and active collecting
and trading of steins: also, their thirst for
knowledge about the stein's history, the history about the stein production
company, and any associated artist in the production process are important
to our members.
Our
general meetings typically include a social period, a substantial
stein sales table, great home cooking, quality beverages, and a meeting
to discuss local activity within the chapter.
Our thirst for knowledge is displayed by comments from guest speakers.
Beyond that we have within our group individuals who have been published
on subjects ranging from Character Steins, Mettlach Steins, Franz Ringer
Steins, Ludwig Hohlwein Steins, and the works of artist Heinrich Schlitt
to name a few.
Commemoration: This being the 40th anniversary of the founding of our chapter, we would like to honor our charter members. We have listed the members by name and we have included the minutes of the 1st chapter meeting of October 19, 1968
